ABOUT US
-
Tapestry Electric is creating transformative events, performances, contests and fellowships at the intersection of dance, music, visual arts, gaming, and emerging technologies. We harness the power of storytelling to explore the space between art, technology, and the messy, magnificent business of being human. Our flagship transmedia project, FRAY, includes the groundbreaking live hip hop dance theatre production, the FRAY Show which premiered to a sold-out audiences at Sadler's Wells Lilian Baylis Theatre in 2024, and has grown into a multi-platform universe that includes hosted dance battles, video games and game jam contests, and is developing experimental performance projects that delve into the intersection of performance and tech.
-
Our first production, FURY, re-imgained the iconic film, Mad Max: Fury Road as a live theatrical ballet, created to spark discovery of the amazing art form of ballet among younger, more diverse audiences by presenting a bold, modern and entertaining story in music halls, outdoor festivals and other spaces fans feel comfortable, welcome and inspired by seeing something new. During Covid when stages went dark, we turned inward and forward. We launched a commissions programme supporting artists to create new work from home, and produced Fly Me to the Moon, a short dance film celebrating resilience and imagination, featuring Grammy-winning musician Ledisi.
We believe that technology and lived human experience are natural complements, and we are curious to explore this rapidly evolving landscape. Every project we make is rooted in a story, and in a conviction that creativity is a catalyst for belonging, exploration, and personal growth. We aim to serve diverse audiences, emerging and established creatives, and underrepresented communities — removing barriers to participation and providing pathways to artistic engagement, technical skill-building, and collaborative innovation in both physical and digital arenas. We offer free and subsidised access for low-income participants, provide work placements for aspiring young professionals, and partner with schools, community organisations, and cultural institutions to broaden access to the arts.

Our mission is to weave the physical and virtual worlds into a seamless space, enabling a continuous, free-flowing current of creativity and human connection.
Accessibility, inclusion, and safeguarding are central to Tapestry Electric’s mission. We are committed to ensuring that everyone — regardless of age, background, or ability — can take part in and benefit from our work. Our projects create space for underrepresented and marginalised voices, supporting artists and communities to share their stories and shape the future of creative expression.
Our Team
Our core team works alongside a growing network of dancers, musicians, choreographers, game designers, spoken word artists, and creative technologists, together with cultural and community partners.
