Bringing Real Dance Battle Energy to Roblox
Tapestry Electric is on the move — this time to Roblox.
We’re developing a new dance battle game where players collect and combine moves to craft their own signature style, build choreographic skill, and compete against other players in live dance battles.
The game brings the DNA of real-life dance battles into a digital world. Moves, combos and styles are being shaped by professional dancers who know what it means to battle, perform and showcase movement in real life. Kieran Lai and Kailon Cherry, the two incredible dancers who starred in our live show as brothers Ziya and Tullio, are part of the creative team, alongside Video Game Professor Ron Weaver and our brilliant software engineer Max Kolemenskiy.
Our game rewards players for dancing on the beat, building combos that flow, and generating energy through movement to win battles. By building from the moves and instincts of dancers like Kieran and Kailon, we’re aiming to create a game that not only feels exciting to play, but helps players understand more about dance, rhythm, style and self-expression.
This is part of Tapestry Electric’s wider mission to bring together dance, music, performance, gaming and technology in ways that are joyful, participatory and socially connected. The organisation’s existing materials describe this work as blending embodied dance with immersive, participatory gaming to open up new forms of storytelling, interaction and access.
We’re now heading into our second playtest on 18 May in central London, where we’ll be inviting players to try out the prototype, share feedback, and help shape the next stage of the game.
