FURY
A ballet inspired by the iconic movie, Mad Max: Fury Road
Premiered 2018
Fury landed with a splash in San Francisco, premiering to crowds of 800 each night in a warehouse music club. The show continued to draw crowds, touring to music clubs, museums and art festivals before Covid brought it’s curtain down.
Featuring a mood driven original score by indie-pop band YASSOU , FURY brings a cast of world class ballet dancers and musicians together on stage to portray characters fighting for survival in a journey that moves between driving intensity and tender intimacy.
“Ballet dancers are stunning artist-athletes, and I knew there was a whole world of young, diverse, would-be fans who were missing it. I wanted to create a ballet that felt like a great night out at a music club, so I chose a contemporary story - surprising for ballet, gathered top principal dancers from SFBallet and LINES Ballet in SF, worked with a rock band, and presented the show in large music clubs rather than traditional theaters. It exceeded expectations to say the least and it would still be touring if Covid hadn’t paused us. Maybe there is life ahead for this production - I know it has legs….! “ Kate Duhamel, Writer, Director
Choreography: Danielle Rowe
Musc: James Jackson and Yassou. Kristina Dutton.
