A Grammy-packed collaborative of star-studded musicians jumped on board this project to make a new recording of “Fly Me To The Moon,” made famous by Frank Sinatra. Brand new Grammy winner Ledisi sings the lead, and produced by eight-time winner Gregg Field who brought in the legendary multi-Grammy winning singer Patti Austin and the 2019 three-time Grammy winning trumpet virtuoso, John Daversa.

Kate shares, “The whole thing just took flight when Gregg came on board, and I am over the moon about the music. We shot the film in January with another star packed cast of five dancers who took flight in their movement as airplanes, propellers, flight attendants, falling parachutes, and everything else we could think of that flies. I created this film in honor of the real CandyBomber, Gail Halvorsen’s 100th birthday, and was able to meet him in person shortly after. He passed away at 101 in 2022. Fly On Col. Halvorsen. You’ve inspired generations.”

Kate Duhamel is a passionate visionary. When we first discussed creating music for the film, her challenge was to tell the 70-plus year old story of the “Candy Bomber” in contemporary dance and song; and Kate suggested a re-imagination of the Sinatra classic “Fly Me To the Moon” for a 2021 audience.

I brought in a favorite singer of Kate’s; 2021 Grammy winner Ledisi, as well as the legendary, multi-Grammy winning singer Patti Austin and the 2019 three-time Grammy recipient, avant-garde trumpet virtuoso John Daversa to bring their creative best.

With Kate’s guidance throughout the entire process, the musical element of the Candy Bomber’s latest sortie was a joy-filled ‘Mission Accomplished’.
